One of the things I wish I did when I was starting out was organizing my files. I just fired up Logic and started making music.
But going back to files can be a nightmare, unless you're organized correctly.
One quick tip you can do is color code your MIDI like so:
In this case I used the following code:
- Kicks = Pink
- Snare = Yellow
- Closed HH = light blue
- Toms = Green
- Perc = royal blue
You can use whatever color scheme you like.
It helps to visually look at your MIDI and have a clear understanding of what is what. This makes it much easier to navigate, make edits, and process.
Or less time to understand your file and more time getting back to making music.
