Studio Notes #006 // Age Adapt
Madonna is 67 and she pulled 2.1 million viewers for her TikTok livestream. Jay-z is 56 and had the largest turnout at Yankee Stadium. Kanye 49 and just had the largest turnout for a rap artists.
Top hiphop podcasters are in there 40's: Joe Budden, Joe and Jada, Nore...the list goes on.
It's cool to see artists you grew up looking up to age and still be relevant. I used to think music was just a young man's game. But, it's music, it's for everyone no matter the age.
How you adapt as you age is key.
The way you approach music can't be the same as when you were younger. You have to adapt as you get older.
I think about this for myself. I'm not a young kid anymore trying to get my beats in front of anyone who'll listen. Now, it's all about making the software to help other producers make music.
And I did this with Mighty Drum Machine.
A software drum machine is where I got started. I always wanted to create my own and finally did.
Now, instead of my focus being on trying to make beats for Jay-Z and Nas, I'm making it easer for creatives to make music. Still in the music game, just on a different note.
