9 Different Styles

  • LoFi

    This is the one that makes your drums sound like they came from another era. As you turn up the Intensity, your drums get warmer, more filtered, slightly wobbly like a cassette tape that's been played a hundred times. Perfect for lo-fi hip hop, chill beats, and anything that needs that nostalgic vintage feel.

  • Crunch

    Raw, overdriven, dirty. Like your drums are being pushed through an old amplifier that's working a little too hard. Think garage rock energy applied to your beats. Gritty but musical.

  • Smash

    This one's not subtle. Smash absolutely crushes your drums — in the best possible way. Think hard-hitting trap drums, aggressive hip-hop, beats that feel like they're about to break. Turn the Intensity up and watch your drums get destroyed (on purpose).

  • Glue

    Ever notice how on a great record, the drums all feel like they belong together — like one cohesive thing rather than separate sounds? That's what Glue does. It pulls everything together and makes your drum mix feel tight and unified.

  • Bright

    Opens up your drums and adds air. Makes hats shimmer. Makes snares crack with clarity. If your drums sound dull or muddy, Bright brings them to life.

  • Clean

    Your drums, just slightly enhanced. Use this when your drums already sound good and you just want to polish them up without changing their character. Subtle but effective.

  • Punch

    Makes your drums hit harder. That satisfying thwack on the kick. That snare that cuts through everything. If your drums feel weak or buried in the mix, Punch brings them forward.

  • Warm

    Adds a soft, analog glow to your drums. Think vintage records, classic soul samples, that cozy richness that makes drums feel alive rather than clinical. Great for R&B, neo-soul, and lo-fi beats.

  • Gritty

    Rough around the edges in the best way. Adds texture and attitude. Your drums will sound like they've been through something in a good way. Perfect for boom bap, hard rap, or any time you want drums that feel raw and real.

Mighty Drums runs a sophisticated multi-stage processing chain under the hood. Each preset selects and balances these modules differently depending on the source and style:

what's underneath

  • Clipper

    Tanh soft clipping catches peaks after saturation for controlled limiting. Smash presets drive this hard for maximum aggression — think deliberately destroyed hip-hop drums hitting a brick wall.

  • Saturation

    Tanh soft saturation adds harmonic richness and analog warmth. Warm presets use this subtly for color. Crunch presets push it hard — saturation is the entire personality of the Crunch algorithm, giving drums a raw, overdriven preamp character.

  • Transient Shaper

    Dual-envelope transient detection (1ms attack, 30ms sustain) gives Mighty FX precise control over the attack and body of every drum hit. Punch presets use this aggressively to snap transients forward. Smash presets pull it back and let compression do the work.

  • Tilt EQ

    A first-order shelving filter pair that rotates the frequency balance around 1kHz. Bright presets tilt high, adding air and presence. Warm presets tilt low, adding body and weight. Lo-Fi presets tilt dramatically negative, rolling off the top end for a vintage filtered character.

  • Parallel Compressor

    A feed-forward RMS compressor with a sidechain high-pass filter set at 120Hz for most sources and 800Hz for hats to preserve their natural shimmer. Runs in parallel with the dry signal for natural-feeling density without killing dynamics. Glue presets lean heavily on this for that cohesive, held-together feel.
